I have been living at Lenox Place almost a month. I absolutely love my home. It is quiet. In a great location. The staff are phenomenal. They truly care about folks like myself, disabled, and the elderly. But I never felt, from the time of getting notified that I had been accepted ableism or stigma. I have a host of psychiatric disorders, still working out the kinks, but mostly medication controls them. There are so many who have stigma against mental illness. Laura, a staff member there is an absolute machine. I can't remember her title because of my disability, building manager I think. Anyways. I am beyond thankful for her. The work she put in to get me in my apartment was prompt, professional, and always inclusional without being overstimulating to my C-PTSD and Schizophrenia subtype delusional and disorganized. She never held the door open for me and patted herself on the back for being 'such a good person'. I was homeless for over 2 years total. The amount of people in the field that is outreach who have stigma, and have little to no real life education or experience when folks are at their most vulnerable is staggering. The abuse of others by those in a higher power is staggering. The Lenox building manager talked to me like a person. She also understood my expressions of inaction when it came to paperwork. That it was some sort of negative symptom of schizophrenia I can't seem to be rid of. She did the writing and I spoke and signed. A hand had reached down from the mountain and grasped mine. I dont mean to be so poetic. About an apartment complex. But people should be recognized. Amazing staff member. Mental illness made me homeless, medicated, and aware of being so, but being unable to do a thing about the negative symptoms of schizophrenia. The inaction. She treated me with dignity and respect while always being comfortingly professional, expressing care about the homeless population and those with mental illness. These people are godsends. Anyways. My apartment is great. Safe. Secure. Friendly. But what sold me is the staff.

The management is great and care about residents. There are friendly residents as well and feels like a community that help each other out. The community room is nice too to get together with each other to socialize and to come together as community which is important in all are lives.

The new Property Manager, Laura, has made a lot of positive changes in cleaning the place up, making it safer for everyone, and puts so much time and effort into making Lenox Place the best it can be. The new management has been a game changer!
